It’s officially August and summer flew by! Our most exciting news is our new updated website. Make sure to check it out and tell us what you think. www.teambradley.com. We spent much of our summer working on it and are pretty pleased with the result and functionality.
When my assistant told me that it was time again for the quarterly newsletter, sitting down to write this was a big, Wow! Where do we begin? While change is a normal part of life, this year seems to have had more change happening than normal. I will start with how totally grateful we are for the health of our family and our work team and their families. TeamBradley has worked together through many tough times in the recruiting marketplace over the years and together we will continue to work our way through this.
As a team we decided to have our office go fully remote, still rooted in Chicago, until the end of 2021. During the month of June, Rich and Amy made a quick trip to Wheaton to move the office and get reorganized. It was the perfect time to get things done along with updating phones for fun remote options. We are really fortunate that we had the choice to not renew our lease. Emily and MaryKate spearheaded our office wrap up and did an amazing job. Andy took care of the phone and IT needs and Tammy kept the finances in line. Honestly doing something like this is emotional as business owners, Rich and I are kind of old school “have an office” type people. However, changing with the times was necessary and we will continue to do that. Technology and the team spirit we thrive on keeps us learning new tech every day. Facetime, Zoom, and MS Teams keeps us connected and unified as a group and business. It’s different, but okay. What’s most important is we know our team is working while feeling safe and happy and that is what matters most.
On the personal side of life. We have to mention how grateful we are that our kids up north are safe and healthy. The GAP, has Calli back to managing and working. And Sami, our hero, spent the early months of the pandemic, testing for Covid. She and her family are doing just fine. Sami has now moved out of testing at the hospital and back into a doctor’s office and we are very grateful for that too. Her husband is back to work and they are managing the juggle to keep someone home with the kids. The grands miss their friends but are doing super awesome.
Additionally, we became empty nesters over this last week. Our youngest headed off to Stetson University, her dream school since sophomore year of high school. We are so proud of her; academic scholarship recipient (smarty pants), enrolled as an honors student and on the Stetson University D1 Women’s Rowing Team. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be taking her to college while a pandemic is happening. The decision was brutal. I share this because I am certain we are not alone. Our inclination to keep her home, safe and our baby just a little long, was an urge that kicked-in nearly every day all summer. In the end we opted to let this bright young lady start her college life. It is certain in these times we are living she will learn what endurance means and how important science is to the world. In the middle of a pandemic she still gets to spread her wings and live her dream. We are so absolutely grateful for the time we had home with her from March until August. We chose to play games each night at the dinner table, go outside and dance in the street with neighbors (socially distant of course), go for lots of bike rides, watch the sun set in our backyard, play with the dog and enjoy lots of movie nights. While her senior year was kind of robbed from her, the gift to us was more hugs, more laughter, and a little more time with our youngest child.
Emily our recruiting assistant is approaching her two-year mark with TeamBradley and is shifting her focus on connecting with candidates and working on client accounts. Still very active with a lot of back end activity for the team, she is enjoying her new challenges as well. Emily has put a pause on her traveling and has been spending a lot of time with her family at home and weekends at their family lake house. She has also made time for hanging out with select friends, outside and socially distant.
Our Administrative Assistant, Mary Kate, has been with us almost a year now! Her focus is working on our social media presence and keeping the database up to date. She commented on what a crazy time our office move was. She’s right and she really pitched in! Outside of work she has been enjoying a lot of family time lately. Headed back to school on August 24th Mary Kate is working toward her degree in marketing, while also sending her daughter off to kindergarten this year. Change, so much change happening. Mary Kate’s awesome family has kept the off time from work super fun, playing family Olympics, creating birthday parades, having many game nights and so much more. When she isn’t with her family she is catching up with friends or playing outside with her daughter Sophia.
As we write this Newsletter we know that the world is feeling abnormal and we are all hoping a new safer normal will soon arrive. As your life changes in unexpected ways, we hope that this note finds you and your family healthy and doing well.
