The Short Scoop: My client, a well-established and growing software development company, is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Engineer to support critical backend systems. This is a hands-on role involving both database administration and SQL development in a highly collaborative, in-house engineering team. Compensation range: $95,000 – $100,000
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administer, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in a production environment
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures
- Assist with schema design, indexing, and performance tuning
- Implement data security, backups, disaster recovery, and replication strategies
- Collaborate with application developers to ensure smooth database integration
- Leverage EnterpriseDB (EDB) tools, and ideally EDB Failover Manager (EFM), to enhance uptime and resilience
- Support automation initiatives using shell scripting or Python
About You
- Be able to do the job as described.
- 3–5 years of overall IT experience, with at least 1–3 years of PostgreSQL experience
- And experience with EFM or Patroni
- Strong SQL development skills (open to flavor — just be comfortable writing and optimizing)
- Experience withEnterpriseDB (EDB) tools
- Proficiency withLinux, including command-line database work
- Experience with EDB Failover Manager (EFM) is a big plus
- Familiarity with Oracle is nice to have, but not required
- A curious, collaborative mindset and willingness to learn
